I wish that I could say that spring is truly here for those of us here in Canada, but we are still having some pretty cold days, so you just never know. I think that winter is just trying to get in its last digs before it finally has to let go.
It is nice to see that the snow is finally gone and days that are above 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit) and it gives me hope of better weather days ahead.
For me spring is always a good time to review my goals and make action plans that will carry me through to the end of the year. Which leads me to today’s teaching…
One of the best ways to build your business is through continual action that creates momentum that creates results. The one thing about spring is that you can no longer use weather as an excuse for not getting out and promoting your business, well at least I can’t. I also find with the spring season that people are more hopeful and happy which makes them easier to recruit.
So I want to give you a formula for success that if you implement you will see results.
2P x 5DAW x 2W = 1R
Now at first glance this formula makes no sense. So let me break it down for you. The great thing about this formula is that you can adjust to fit your own situation.
2P = 2 People
5DAW = 5 Days A Week
2 W = 2 Weeks
1R = 1 Recruit
So if you talk to 2 people a day for 5 days a week for 2 weeks, you should get a recruit even if you are new to this business or have never recruited anyone before.
Over time as you practice your numbers will get better. For me it is 1 in 7 to 1 in 10 depending on the time of year.
So what if you want to recruit 1 person a week? Then just talk to four people a day. That is the great thing about this formula; once you know the basics you can create your future.
The other number to know is 1 in 20. For many companies that is how many people you have to recruit to find a really good leader that is going to help you move your business forward.
For me knowing those numbers has changed my life. It meant I no longer felt like a failure when things didn’t happen as fast as I wanted it to. It also meant that if I just stayed consistent and learned to accept the no’s that I would find the yeses. Those people who had the entrepreneurial spirit and would help me get to the top. If you were to actually do those actions continuously you could have approximately 26 people in your first generation, 2 leaders and 37 people in your second generation and 1 leader and 14 people in your third generation (77 people in total) from talking to 2 people a day and teaching your team members to do the same.
The main thing is to make the commitment to action and then DOING IT. Nothing will happen unless you take action and stay focused.
One of the things that helped me was to have an accountability partner who went out with me and wouldn’t let me off the hook so I had to do the actions. When I do the actions I see results.
