We all go through times where it is hard to get motivated to take action in our business. Winter for me is one of those times because where I live the weather can be not so nice and it is so much easier to make up excuses instead of going out in the cold!

But…

I have learnt that I lose so much momentum in my business when I stop that it is not really worth it for me. That is my motivation. I want my business to keep growing and I know how big I want it to be and some cold is not going to stop me. Besides, it gives me an excuse when I get home to have a nice hot bath! My reward for work well done.

Now that may not work for you. So let’s look at six other ways that you can get yourself motivated to take action in your business.

  1. Figure Out Why Your Are Feeling Unmotivated

Many times we just feel unmotivated and we accept it without looking at why we feel that way. Where I love it is easy to get unmotivated because there is a lot less sunlight between the shorter days and the amount of snow we get.

Maybe there are undealt with personal things going on that make it hard to start taking action. Maybe you are just unorganized and don’t know where to start.

Whatever the reason is, just recognizing it is a big step towards getting motivated again. Once you know what it is, it is easier to fight!

  1. The One Thing We Don’t Want To Do

We all have that one thing that we really dread doing in our business and the longer we put it off the harder it gets. This can really unmotivated you because it is all you are thinking about. The best thing to do is to get it done FIRST, then you will be excited to do the things you love to do.

  1. Don’t Get Overtired

It is so easy to be unmotivated when our bodies are physically exhausted. Proper sleep and rest will do wonders for your motivation. When you have energy, you actually WANT to do things. Tweet This

  1. The Middle Of The Journey Is The Hardest

When you are at the middle point of reaching your goals and dreams, that is time when you are most tempted to take it easy. You have done enough that you are starting to see results, but you still are far away enough that you can’t quite see the light at the end of the tunnel to motivate you.

The best way to motivate yourself is to set a goal and reward at the ¾ point. This will motivate you to start taking action again.
 

  1. Work On Your Self Confidence

Some people are unmotivated because they don’t truly believe in themselves. If that is the case then you need to take small steps and accomplish small goals to build your self confidence, which will motivate you to do more.

  1. The Sooner You Take Action…

Sometimes we are unmotivated because we have let things pile up and we are overwhelmed and don’t know what to do. When that happens the best thing you can do is take action quickly. Pick one thing you can do (and don’t worry at this point if it is the right thing) and do it. As you take action it will become clear which actions you need to take to produce better results.

I know taking action when you are unmotivated is hard. In fact I woke up this morning and did not want to get out of my very warm (have you figured out yet that I do not like being COLD) bed. I just wanted to sleep the day away.

But…

My desire to help people and build my business won out and here I am sharing this with you. So what are waiting for? Get out there and build your business!

Can I make a confession to you? For years I was the Queen of Procrastination. In fact I was so good at it that I could come up with incredible totally believable excuses as to why I didn’t get things done.

But it was killing all my hopes and dreams. :(

I wanted to be successful, I wanted to achieve things that very few other people did…
But as long as procrastination was my best friend that wasn’t going to happen.

So I made one of the hardest decisions of my life.

I broke up with procrastination and he didn’t like it and fought me tooth and nail to stay in my life.

It was a battle and there were days I won and days I lost.

So how did I get rid of him for good?

1. I recognized him for who he was. The enemy of everything I wanted in this life.
2. I made a conscious decision that I wasn’t going to be that person anymore.
3. I made realistic goals with daily actionable steps instead of grandiose dreams
4. I started out small by doing 1 thing each day that I procrastinated doing the most.
5. I prayed for strength A LOT!!!
6. I started recognizing my negative thought patterns and changed them.
7. I stopped and looked at each choice I was making and weighed the consequences of them. This one alone really motivated me to start taking more action.

Over the course of time I also came to realize that one of the main reasons why I procrastinated was fear. I was afraid that if I really tried and failed it would prove what I truly thought about myself and that I was failure.

But…

Here is what I learnt as I started to take more and more action.
– Action brings results
– Failure at something doesn’t mean that I am a failure, only that I need to learn more.
– That I can succeed at things.

Can I say that I have reached all my goals and dreams yet?
No…
But I am a whole lot closer now than I was 5 years ago and I have reached some of them and one of them was YOU.

You see, I wanted to help people become the very best entrepreneurs they could be and to make a difference in their lives. When you read my blog posts you help me reach my goal and I want to say thanks.

Here is one other thing I did and that is I made myself accountable to other people to accomplish my goals. They had the right at any time to check in on me and see if I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. Talk about motivation. I knew they would ask me and I hated not having anything to show for it, so I forced myself to do things so I would look good.

Now though, I find I want to things and when I procrastinate for too long it eats at me and I have to get up and do it.

In the first post we talk about setting goals and I just wanted to add two more things to that. When you are setting your goals always set them just beyond what you believe in your heart you can do. If you want to become really successful you are going to have to grow in not only your skills but your ability to conquer new things.

By making your goals just beyond your reach you are going to have to stretch yourself to do reach them and when you do that you will find the next level of success is closer then what you think.

The other thing is that you can use the same formula to figure out how many customers that you need to reach sales goal as well, so this is not just for building a team.

PROSPECTING IS THE ONE MANDATORY ACTION YOU NEED FOR YOUR BUSINESS!!!

And I can’t stress that enough. Here’s the thing. Nobody I know wakes up in the morning and goes, “Yeah, I have to go prospecting today.” In fact it is something that most people dread and that is because they don’t realize that prospecting is the key to success and something they should be excited about.

I think one of the things that stop people from prospecting is the fact that they haven’t found a way of doing that they like. I find that most people tend to have one or two ways that they really do well in, but if they haven’t figured out which ones they like best then they get frustrated and bored with recruiting and quit.

So the two mains to prospect is offline (locally) and online and you need to figure out which one works best for you. You can’t go by what others tell you is the best way and there will be times where you are going to have to do it differently from your leader and that is ok. The main thing is to find the one that works for you and then do it on a consistent basis to achieve results.

As we end 2015 you can do one of two things. You can take a realistic look at your business this year both the good and bad and learn from it to grow in 2016, or you can sit back in hopelessness and say that nothing is going to change so why bother even trying.

The first attitude will bring you success, the second will leave you in despair and hopelessness and you will end 2016 in worse shape then 2015.

No matter what you 2015 was like, you have the choice of what your 2016 is going to look like. If 2015 wasn’t the best year then shake it off. You can’t change what happened and focusing on it will only leave you feeling like a failure. Instead focus on the actions you can take to start to build momentum and move your business forward.

What Are The Two Things You Need To Start The Year Off Right?

A Plan & Action To Go Along With It

Sounds simple doesn’t it? That’s because it is. Many times we make things way more complicated than it is. So in this post we are going to cover how to make a plan. In the first post of the New Year we will look at the actions to go along with it.

So how to do make a plan? Take a look at these 6 steps.

  1. Where Do You Want To Be At The End Of the Year?

How many levels in leadership or sales do you want to go up in by the end of the year? Picture it, imagine it. See yourself there. What will it feel like? These are all important things to cement that in your mind. It will help you when things get tough.

  1. How Many Customers/Recruits/Leaders Do You Have To Add To Make It Happen?

Knowing exactly what you need to do will help you know if your goal is achievable. Not sure exactly what you need? Talk to someone higher up in your business and find out. Here is an example to show you how the numbers work. I am using numbers from my company. Let’s say that you need 5 leaders to make the level that you want and that it takes 10 new recruits to get 1 leader. That means that you need 50 recruits in a year to get the leaders that you need. Now let’s go to step 3.

  1. Figure out what you need to do on a weekly basis?

Since you now know that you need 50 recruits in the year, you take your total and divide it by 50 (you always allow yourself a couple of weeks off a year) that means that you need to recruit one person a week to reach your goal by the end of the year.

  1. Figure out what you need to do on a daily basis?

So now you know that you need to recruit one person a week to reach your goals.

Do you know how many people you need to talk to, to get that one person? For me it is 1 in 7 to 1 in 10 depending on the time of year. So if I want one recruit, I need to talk to 10 people. If you don’t know your numbers or are new and inexperienced then go with 1 in 30. If you plan for that you will find recruits. So for 10 people that means that you need to talk to 2 people everyday, 5 days a week. For 30 it means that you have to talk to 6 people a day.

  1. Decide if this is something that you will be able to accomplish on a continuous basis.

The point of this exercise is to make a plan that is doable with the time and resources you have. It’s great to say that all you need to do is talk to ten people a week, but are you really going to do it? That’s the real question. If you feel that it is too much then go back to the beginning and set a lower goal and figure it out from there. Keep doing it until you come up with a number that you believe you can accomplish. It is better to have a smaller goal that you achieve then a larger goal that you give up on because deep down inside you know that you can’t do it. Once you have done that then go onto step 6.

  1. Write A Plan In Your Agenda With The Actions You Are Going To Do Each Day.

This is very important if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. Also make sure that you vary the types of prospecting that you do, so that it doesn’t get boring.

It’s not hard to do but is does take a little bit of time. Once you have done it once or twice it becomes a whole lot easier.

Christmas time is one of the best seasons for most MLM companies and it is the one where you can reap the most benefits, IF YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!

Will you have to work hard? Yes.

Will it be worth it? Yes.

Can this set you up so that you have money coming in January and February? Most definitely!!!
What most people don’t realize is that is not only now that you are affecting by your actions, it is also those scarce months at the beginning of the year that are affected as well. If you build strong now there will be money coming in later. Don’t build strong now and you will be scrambling come the beginning of the year and it will be much harder then. Set the foundation now and reap the results later.

So let’s look at 2 ways that you can increase your sales this season.

1. Increase Your Customer Base
This is always the most beneficial way to do it. More customers equals more sales. I know that this may sound silly to you, but so many people struggle in this business trying to get the people that they have to buy more causing stress, when more customers would solve the problem.
Here’s the thing. Most of us do not like to prospect! Come on, you might as well admit it. You don’t wake up in the morning and go, “Yeah, I get to go out and talk to people today!” Most of the time you wake up, know that you have to do it and dread it.
But prospecting is the power behind your business, it is what is going to bring you success and once you have done it for a bit and start seeing the results, you will get excited and want to do it more.
Let me show you over the long term the effect of even increasing you customer base by 20% can mean to your bottom line.
Let’s say that you current have 25 customers that spend on average $25 every month. That is $625 a month in sales or $7500 a year. What if you increased it by 20 % or 5 more customers? That would now take your month sales up to $750 a month and $9000 a year. Now think of what would happen if you added 10 or 20 more customers?
Getting new customers is not hard especially if you are with one of the main stream companies out there.
Here are two ideas you can use that even the most shyest of people can do because it does not require you to talk to anyone.
First, read your catalogue when you are out & about.
You will be amazed at how many people will notice you reading it and ask you for one. I have gotten $75 orders from people in grocery stores who saw my catalogue practically grabbed it out of my hands and handed me orders because they hadn’t seen one in such a long time. Don’t make it obvious that you are reading it, but do hold it in such a way that people can see the cover and the company.
Second, when you eat out leave the catalogue on the table for people to see as they walk by.
Same concept, people will see it as they walk by and if they like your company they will ask you about it.
Will you get customers every time you do it? Of course not, but it will happen enough to make it worth your while doing. The main thing is to do it consistently and you will see some results.

2. Sell More To The Customers You Have
Now I know what I said about selling more to the customers you have in point one, so let me clarify. When you only have a few customers and you need sales desperation sets in and you start to bug people to buy more and more because YOU need them to and that is not what I am going to be talking about here.
My form of upselling is actually great customer service and your customers will thank you for it instead of trying to run away from you.
Let’s take a look at the numbers again. What if you were to increase everyone’s sales by $5.00 per order? So that would be 25 customers x $30 = $750 a month. You have increased you sales by $125 a month just getting your customers to buy $5 more.
So how do you get your customers to buy more? Here are two ideas.
First, try new products yourself and when you are talking to your customers tell them about if it you liked it and ask them if they want to try it. A percentage of them will.
Second, give out samples and get them to try it and give you their opinion and if they like it offer them the full size product at a nice sales price if they get it today.
This one requires some organization but it works. One added suggestion is if you deliver your orders to your customers personally then bring the sample get them to try it at the door and then have full size ones with you so they can purchase it immediately. It works great.
By doing these two things you will be surprised at how quickly your sales will grow and you will not only have money in your pocket right now, but you will also set yourself up to have more sales early in the new year when the run out of the product and need more.

For me this is the most exciting time of year and the time of year that sets the pace that will determine my success for the rest of the year.
September is here! Yeah!!! And the question I have for you is, “Are you ready?”
You see the sooner that you start to prepare the more you will get out of it. Things quickly get busy in the fall season and you are going to miss out on opportunities because you didn’t take the time to prepare now.
So what sort of things should you be preparing?
1. YOUR GOALS
We are coming up to the time of year when you can get the most results for the least amount of work. People have had their rest and spent their money and now need a way to make more as the Christmas season approaches. How many people do you want to recruit between now and Christmas? How many new customers do you want to add? How much money do you want to be making by the end of the year? These are all great things to figure out when you are not in the rush of the season. They should be firmly set, so that as the season progresses you keep yourself going in the right direction and you don’t get distracted by other things.
2. YOUR SCHEDULE
This one is the most important. You need to determine now when things are still quieter how much time you are going to have to work on your business. Get a monthly calendar and put these things in it.
Your work schedule (if you have one)
• All your family’s activities (such as sports, extracurricular, religious) anything that happens on a regular basis
• Appointments (Doctor, Dentist, Bank, Hair Dresser) anything that you already have booked
• Prospecting times
• Regular team training times
• Other business activities that you do
One way that is useful for helping to keep everything on track is to highlight you schedule according to what category it falls under. So you can use one colour for work schedule, one for family and appointments and then another colour for your business activities. This makes it very easy to determine in one glance what is going on in your day.
3. YOUR MATERIALS
Have you received your Fall brochures, catalogues or recruiting material yet? This is a great time to get it all ready and if you have kids get them to help you. I know by this time in the summer my kids when they were little were getting bored and looking for fun things to do, so I let them help me and it got done quickly. Then when the time came to hand them out I wasn’t scrambling to get it ready in the midst of all the other things I had to do.
4. TRAINING
Do you need training in a specific area to help boost your business in the fall. The beginning of fall is a great time to figure out where your weak areas are then get yourself a program that is going to help you in that area. 5. SELF CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM.
It is reported that 85% of people in North America suffer from it and they don’t have to.
There are ways to overcome it. I had to overcome it. In fact, if I hadn’t you wouldn’t be reading this blog post, because I never would have had the courage to write it!
When I finally realized that I didn’t have to let how I felt about myself stop me from doing anything I wanted in life, it totally changed me from the inside out. No longer did I say to myself, “I can’t do this.” Now I say, “What do I need to learn to be able to accomplish this goal and where can I find the training I need to do it?” I don’t look at how impossible it is, I look at the first step I can take to start moving myself towards it and YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO AS WELL.
It takes time and effort, but the best thing you can do is recognize what is there and start to change it.

So now is the time for you to get started and working for a great Christmas season.

In your business this is a new season. It is the beginning of the best time of year in MLM/Network Marketing and Direct Sales. The Fall/Christmas season.
This is where people open up their wallets to shop and their minds to new ways to make money to shop with and all they are waiting for is you to present your products and opportunity to them. And where is the best place to do that? Your local market.
“But I am an online only person. Why should I work my local market when there are millions of people on the internet?” Good question, and I think that the best answer for that is relationships.
In the online world it is so easy to have people become numbers, with no loyalty. Lose one, “Oh well,” I will just get another. The problem is that kind of business is like a house built on shifting sand. No foundation, and if someone comes along who has a better price or offers your team relationship and leadership your business is toast.
On the other hand, I have an incredibly loyal group of customers and team members that I have invested in, who would not leave me no matter what, all built in my local market. I am not saying that you can’t and shouldn’t use the internet as part of your plan to build your business, but building a core of local people will give you the stability to be able to branch out without the fear of losing it all.
So let’s look at 5 ways of reaching out to your local market that will get you lots of exposure to present your products and opportunity.

1. Fundraisers
There are so many groups and organizations that are looking for unique ways to make money without having to sell chocolate bars anymore. Many companies have fundraising products that you can offer to these groups where they will make good earnings on them. If they don’t make up your own package and give them as much as you can. Remember to always dress and act professional when presenting to these groups. It will get you more yeses.
2. Sport Activities
Many sport teams are starting back up again, and you know what that means, lots of moms and dads sitting in the stands watching their children either practice or play. It also means a lot of money going out for equipment, fees and transportation. They make great recruit leads because they already have a built in customer base that doesn’t require any extra time because they all meet at the same place at the same time with nothing to do but wait. Go to some of the games, get to know some of the parents. Talk to them and when the time is right present you opportunity.
3. Tailgating
You are probably wondering what in the world is tailgating? It’s actually very simple. You park in a public place, decorate up your vehicle (minivans work best), open up your trunk and give away free samples and your catalogues to anyone who wants them. Of course you also offer your opportunity as well. I have gotten many recruits and customers this way and it costs you almost nothing.
Just a quick warning. If you are going to park in store or mall parking lots please get permission first. One thing about your local market, you don’t want to get a bad reputation for being disrespectful of other businesses.
4. Fall Festivals, Christmas Shows and Malls
I have had much success using all 3 of these venues to build my business. Yes, they do cost money, but you usually make it back in new customers and recruits, also if your company has a charity that they support through the sale of speciality products, you can sometimes get into these places for free because you are not making any money. The great thing about these venues is that you can talk to hundreds of people in the space of a few hours. It is not unusual for me and my team to come out with 20 recruit leads and 60 customers. How cool is that?
5. Referrals
Referrals are probably the most rewarding part for me as I work with my local market. When my customers contact me to tell me that they have 3 friends who want to buy from me, it lets me know that I am doing a good job. Customer leads who are referred to you by your loyal customers, become good customers and sometimes recruits as well.

Building in your local market does take work and time, but the rewards are worth it. Just think of the potential $100 000, $200 000 or $500 000 in team sales that you have guaranteed as a foundation for you to expand on.

This summer has flown by and I can believe that we are already close to the end of August.

I am working on three projects that I hope are going to be of real help to you. One of them I will tell you about on Monday or Tuesday.

The other two are books that I hope to release around the beginning of September and the will be free to you as a thank you for being such a great supporter.

So now that we got the update done, onto today’s training.

As an entrepreneur it can be hard to keep yourself motivated and encouraged because in most cases it is only you. It can also be hard because most times our families just don’t get it. They think it should be easy because we don’t have a boss over us keeping us going and that is why it is hard!

We are accountable to only ourselves and if things are going bad we don’t have the motivation of being fired to keep us going.

So how do you keep yourself encouraged when things are hard?

1. Take Your Eyes Off Of The Problem
I know it may sound weird, but when you focus only on the problem it becomes bigger and bigger until it overwhelms you. Instead focus only on the solution. Brainstorm ideas on what can work to solve your problem and many times you will at least start to find the answer.

2. Be Thankful
Thankfulness has an incredible power in our life to change what seems insurmountable into something that can be overcome with time and patience. When we are grateful for what we have we open ourselves up to more.

3. Educate Yourself
Many times we run into obstacles because of things we do not know how to do. Many times I have been frustrated because of technical issues that seemed to be so daunting. I always would have to step back and realise that if someone else has done it so can I and I go to Google and type in my answer.
Many times the answer comes up and I can go on with my day or with bigger problems at least it gives me a place to start.

4. Pray
Now for some of you this will not apply and if you don’t believe in God I respect that, but for those of us that do, prayer is a powerful force that can peace and wisdom to any situation because the God who created everything has an answer for you.

I wish that I could tell that it is always easy to keep yourself encouraged, but that would be a lie. Some days it is hard work, but if you want to reach the success that you want then you need to do it or you will quit. So cheer up, there are better times ahead.

One of the things I love about MLM is the fact that it is a business, but unlike other businesses you don’t have the massive outlay of money to get it started and you don’t have to create everything from scratch. You can literally plug yourself in and start seeing results right away!

That being said, success will not be handed to you on a silver platter with no effort on your part. There are some things you need to do to ensure that you become successful and we are going to look at 5 of them in this post.

1. You Have To Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
If you aren’t willing to learn and grow as a person, you will never be able to handle success. This is a journey and at each level there will be new things to challenge you that you will have to overcome.

2. Most Success Happens In The 3lbs Of Grey Matter Between Your Ears.
Believe it or not, success isn’t about what you have to deal with on the outside, it has everything to do with how you think feel and then act on that belief. Most people sabotage their own success because they don’t truly believe that they deserve it.

3. It Is Your Responsibility
The only way that you are going to succeed is if you take responsibility for your entire business both good and bad. Never place the blame for what happens on other people and what they did or did not do.

4. Be Willing To Provide Value Without Expecting Anything Back
The way to build this business to go above and beyond what anyone else does without expectation of getting something back. Give and it shall be given unto you. Do it because you care, not because you expect something in return and you will have more success then you can handle.

5. If You Do Nothing Else Be Consistent In Prospecting
This is the most important part of all. If you aren’t prospecting then your business isn’t growing but shrinking. This is the most required action and the one that is the least done. Successful MLMer’s are always prospecting they have done it so much it is in their blood.

If you follow these 5 things you too will have success in your business and in your life.

Many years ago, I was very discouraged in my business and I was struggling to get even minor results.

I felt guilty, I felt unworthy, I felt like everyone else could do it and I was the dummy that couldn’t. Just being honest.

I looked at everyone else’s success and I wanted it for myself, but I truly believed that only special, talented people could have it and I wasn’t any of those.

Even though that is what I thought deep down inside, God wanted more for me and He gave me an entrepreneurial spirit that just wouldn’t quit. So even though I didn’t believe in myself, that still small voice nagged me and wouldn’t let me quit.

I still can’t remember to this day how it happened, but I came across an incredible MLM teacher called Doug Firebaugh and after listening to him teach for the first time, I had hope again.

Here was a person who believed in me even though he had never met me. Not only did he inspire me but gave me practical tools to try to move my business forward and I have been following him ever since.

God has used him incredibly in my life, in fact there wouldn’t be an email for you to read right now if it wasn’t for him.

He and his wife Jody were the ones that helped me get my website started and encouraged me to write my first blog post (even though I had been told as a child that I couldn’t write and hadn’t written much since!)

They even read that first blog post and told me to post it because they thought it was good. (Which I did in fear and trembling.)

They encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and try new things and even though some of them weren’t for me at that time, it planted seeds in me that are growing right now.
