Does this sound like you? You wake up in the morning sometimes on time and sometimes late.

The night before you day dreamed of everything that you are going to get accomplished today, in fact you spend a lot of time thinking about all the grand and fantastic things you are going to do in your business and what you are going to accomplish.

But by the end of day, you have not moved even one step closer to reaching your goal. You think to yourself, “Where did the day go I was so busy, but got nothing done.” Then as you look back at the day you realized that most of it was spent in distractions like:

  • That one game of solitaire that turned in 10 games
  • That friend who called because something important happen and an hour later you realize that all she wanted to do was shoot the breeze and gossip.
  • You switched on the TV for one minute and two hours later you are still watching.
  • You can’t decide which business activity is more important today, so you spend most of the day trying to figure it out, or you just give up and do something else because it is too hard. What if you make the wrong choice!
  • You find yourself coming up with so many ‘valid’ excuses as to why you can’t go prospecting or making those sales calls.

If this is you then procrastination has become your best friend and is robbing you of living the life that you dreamed of. Now you are probably thinking to yourself, “That’s the way I was made to be and there is nothing that I can do about it, so why even try. I am doomed to failure or at best average.”

Tweet ThisI thought that way for years, and then over the period of about a year I came to realize that it was HOGWASH. I choose to procrastinate and I can choose not to procrastinate, but first I had to find out why I was procrastinating. What was causing me to do this and here are some things that I have found to be true.


  1. Lack of vision. I didn’t know where I was going and didn’t know how I was going to get there, so I spent most of my time in a distracted haze.
  2. Lack of organization. Everything in my life was chaotic and all over the place, so even when I wanted to do something, I had to spend so much time getting ready to do it that I would quit before I ever started.
  3. Tiredness. I used to suffer form anaemia and would be so tired that it was easier to give in then to fight it and get healthy. It was also an easy excuse not to push myself in my business and housework.
  4. Fear. I was afraid of trying and not being good enough, so procrastination and excuses were my way of protecting myself.
  5. Overwhelmed, mostly because of number 2 and 4. So I would quit before I ever really tried.


Getting rid of procrastination is a process and for everyone it is going to take a different amount of time based on how much you have to deal with, but it is worth it. It took me a good year before I realized that I finally kicked it to the curb for good.

It still tries to come around and knock on my door and 99% of the time I don’t even answer, and on the days that I do, it is only there a short time before I can’t stand to be around him and he is back on the curb again.

RIGHT NOW you have a very important choice to make. You can continue down the easy road of procrastination, never achieve anything that you want in life and at the end of your life look back and have so many regrets. Or you can choose the harder road at first and deal with it once and for all and finally start moving towards having the things that you want in life.

Was 2016 a year of change and challenges for you? Was it a rough year where you never seemed to win or was it a year where breakthrough finally came? For me 2016 was my breakthrough year, but if you have been with me for any length of time you know that 2014 and 2015 were hard years, but I am thankful for them.

Now you may be asking yourself, “How can she be thankful for those hard years?” The answer is simple. Those years prepared me and made me strong enough to BREAKTHROUGH in 2016. The only way a muscle grows to be able to handle incredible weight and have immense strength is by pushing it beyond its limits which causes damage. It is the process of healing that damage that causes the muscles to grow.

Does it hurt? Yes, for a short period but what you get afterwards is worth it. So, if you want 2017 to be the year of BREAKTHROUGH in your life and business, then you need to start with an important concept.

So many times, I think that we ‘want to want,’ instead of do and achieve. We love to want things, like going on a vacation or buying a new car or having the time freedom to enjoy our families but are we willing to DO anything about it.

So, you might be saying to me, “But you don’t understand. I have this, this and this, standing in my way. There is no way that I can build the business I want in 2017. I just can’t.” If that is what you believe then you won’t. Sorry if I offended you but the truth hurts sometimes.

If there was something that 2014, 2015 and 2016 have taught me it is this, “No obstacle can stay in my way for long, if I continue to grow my belief, always focus on the solution and never stop doing the actions for success.”

My challenge for you in 2017 is this, get rid of all the things that are holding you back and take immense action that will propel you forward to either breakthrough or to a greater level of success and I want to help you do that.

Canadian Thanksgiving was just a few weeks ago and the US Thanksgiving is coming up and it got me thinking about the wild turkeys that live in my neighbourhood. Did you know that they are dumbest, smart bird I have ever known. During hunting season you can’t find them anywhere, and during the rest of the year they stand on the road and make YOU wait for them to move. You can honk, you can move forward slowly, but they won’t move until they want to, and there is never just one of them. I have been late for appointments waiting for Mom and all the young ones to cross the road.

So I decided to read up on them and I found some interesting parallels between them and running a MLM/ Network Marketing/Direct Sales business.

1. Wild turkeys thrive when they live in a protected area with an open field or space beside it. They forage in the open space for food, but can quickly get to cover when it is needed. For us that means that we need a place that we can go to when things get tough. You always go out and look for new people, build your team and your business, but have that place whether physically, mentally or spiritually where you can recharge and motivate yourself. Attacks in this business will come, and they can be on the outside or on the inside and you need to be prepared to guard yourself and combat those attacks when they come or you won’t be in this business for very long.

2. Wild Turkeys can roost and rest in trees. It gives them covering, protection and a unique perspective on the whole world around them. Do you take time to rest? Rest not only recharges your body but your brain as well and helps give you perspective on yourself and your business. I always know when I haven’t taken enough rest. Everything becomes harried and I can’t stop thinking about all the things I need to do and on and on it goes. When I take rest it allows my mind to settle and I actually get more things done.

3. Varied VocalizationsTweet This
Wild Turkeys can make many different sounds to communicate with other turkeys. The first time I heard the young ones I couldn’t figure out what kind of bird it was because it was so unique. In MLM you need to have many different ways to communicate so that you can draw as many people to your business as possible. Build you team locally, build it online, find ways to connect with people that you normally wouldn’t associate with. If you are only prospecting one way then you are missing out on a lot of business.

4. They Have Lots Of Different Food Sources.
Wild Turkeys will eat seeds, foliage, berries, bugs and small reptiles, which is probably why they like my backyard. It has all of them including the snakes (just little garter snakes no longer than my forearm and they don’t bite.) What food are you feeding your mind, soul and spirit? The most successful people are the ones with the biggest libraries. They are constantly learning and growing not only their skills, but more importantly in their capacity for success. Make it a goal to learn something about yourself each day and to grow as person and you will see more success.

5. Great Daytime Vision, Poor Night Time Vision
Turkeys can see better than people in the daytime, but not as well as us in the night. So how does that apply to us? Simple. Turkeys know their weaknesses and protect themselves accordingly. They go out to eat in the early morning when most other animals are a sleep and they sleep in trees at night when there enemies are awake. Pretty smart, huh? We all have weaknesses in our business. Things that we don’t do well or we just don’t really like to do. So instead on focusing all your time and energy trying to make your weaknesses stronger, why don’t you work your strengths, get results and pay someone to do the things you can’t. Instead of being frustrated you will feel liberated.
So there you have it. Probably never would of thought that you have something in common with turkeys did you?

Did the title grab your attention? It should. You have a decision to make and for some of you it is going to be a difficult one, one that may make you feel like a meanie. Now before you stop reading this post, let me explain.

One thing that is rarely taught in business is how to prioritize your time with your customers and recruits, and it could be costing you a lot of time, energy, strength and money.

There are people who should never be your customer or recruits and it is time that you let them go, so that you can build the business that you want. It is ok and actually vital to let them go. You are not being mean by doing it. You are putting you and your family first. If you don’t do it, who will.

There are certain people who will destroy you business and your joy if you let them, and it is time that you change that.

There are three categories of people that should never either be a customer or a recruit. These people make your business hard to do and actually give you negative results.

1.Needy People

This people will flatter you in the beginning and tell you how great you are and always want to spend time with you. At first you think that it is great, but then you start to realize that they aren’t doing anything. They are hanging around you because it makes them feel important. They aren’t interested in achieving anything, they are only interested in what you can give them. When you try to pull away, they try to cling on tighter and will emotionally manipulate to get what they want.

They will cry, they will get mean and accuse of anything and everything and they are a master of guilt trips. The best thing you can do is to slowly move away from them. Don’t always answer them right away and when they get overbearing you need to put your foot down.

These type of people produce nothing and will emotionally suck you dry so that you have nothing left for anyone else. If they are on your team, then stop working with them, if they are customer, just stop contacting them at all and do not deliver any materials to them. Over time they will get the message and move onto someone else who will give them what they crave.

2.Demanding/Critical People

Have you ever worked with someone who never has anything positive to say? I have. These people drag you down into the mud. They never believe they can accomplish anything and they don’t.

They don’t want you to accomplish anything either and get jealous and will try to sabotage you when you do. The best way to deal with these type of people is to just have nothing to do with them at all. Get away as fast as you can.

3.The Excuse Makers

These are people who want to be successful, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get there. At first, they seem great and will make you all these promises to make themselves look good, but when you actually get try to get them to do something, the excuses start.

They are really great at making excuses that are so believable that you give them another and then another chance. Over time you start to realize that there is always an excuse. Most of the time these are nice people, but deep down inside they have a mental mindset block that they need to overcome.

They will occasionally produce something and you don’t need to get rid of them, but you can’t rely on them either. Just let them do what they decide to do and when they do achieve something recognize them for it. Don’t spend anytime on them.

Spend your valuable time with your customers and team members who bring something to you. Invest in those who will work with you, the rest you have to let go. This is your future, this is your family and you can’t sacrifice what is precious to you, for someone who will not appreciate it and will take what you offer and then demand more.

In the last blog post, we talked about finding time for you business and where the time wasters are? So how much time did you get?

It’s amazing how much time we have in a day when we get rid of the distractions. So now that you have found all this extra time what do you do with it? How do you make the most of the time that you have?

It is like a marriage; you only have a certain amount of time with your spouse each day, and you can use it up with things that destroy the marriage or build it. There are many activities that you can do that will get you nowhere in your business, but will keep you busy. You know what they are.

Then there are the activities that build your business and bring in results. The funny thing is, the activities that bring you success, no one wants to do. They either find them boring, or they are afraid to do them, so they keep themselves ‘looking busy’ while achieving nothing.

So what are the three things you can do in your business to bring about success?

1. Prospecting

2. Recruiting

3. Sales

Let’s look at each one of them. The first is prospecting for customers and recruits. This should be your primary activity in your business especially if it is small. The bulk of your time should be practicing how to get good at it. “But there are so many other things I need to learn how to do, such as…”

If you can’t prospect you do not have a business, period. The other things you will learn as you go. Find a way to prospect that works for you. You can prospect online, locally or through advertising. Learn about each one, try each one and find the one that gets you results. The second activity you need to focus on is converting those prospects into recruits. Most people have a mental block, they think that this is hard to do, when in reality it isn’t. The thing you need to know is that there are people who will say no and people who will say yes if you give them the opportunity. Once you practice and get good at it, you can get as many as 1 in 7 say yes.

The best way to learn is to find someone in your company who is good at converting people and hang around with them and ask them questions, watch what they do. Pay them if you have to, it will be worth every cent and then just do what they do.

The third activity is to convert prospects to customers and bringing in consistent sales. Of the three, this is the easiest one to do. The main thing with clients is providing excellent, consistent service and you will have sales.

One thing I have learned with being married for 25 years, you need to have priorities in your life and my marriage is one of them. It takes time, effort and sacrifice to build a marriage that lasts. It is the same in your business.

How high of a priority is your business in your life? Do you book it like you would a job? Do you treat it like you would if you had a boss over you that could fire you?

If you want to build a business that gives you the financial success that you want, then you must be willing to pay the price for it.

I know that it can be hard when you work from home. There are so many distractions that can get in your way, so many things tempting you away from the things that bring true success.

The reality is that you do have enough time for your business, even part time, if you only work on the things that will produce results. We all have time wasters, things we do that take up long periods of time and give you nothing in return.

Then take this challenge. For the next 3 days, I want you to log everything you do in a day and how long you took doing it. After you have done that I want you to add up all the time you spent where you produced no results.

It is a matter of deciding what you want more, you time wasters or success. Truly successful people, know how to prioritize their time and only do what is need to get them where they want to be.

The last month has been a wonderful mix of crazy busy, overwhelmed by my to do list and then last Saturday was one of the best days of my life as I renewed my marriage vows with the man that I have loved for over 25 years.

It was an amazing day that I will never forget. We have just come back from our ‘honeymoon’ and I am ready to get back into action. Today, is my last day of vacation and I am at home semi-relaxing as I get ready to get back into the full swing of things on Monday.

So today and tomorrow, I will be getting a bunch of blog posts ready, full of great teaching to help you make the best of the summer months of your business. I will be taking lessons learned from my 25 years with my husband and show you how building a business can be one of the most difficult and rewarding things you will ever do.

I also have some projects that I have been working on, which will be released in July and August and here is a sneak peak.

– My women’s entrepreneurs productivity book is just about finished and I will be releasing it by the end of July with a free promotion.

– As another stream of income I have been in the process of creating colouring book, soduku books, word find books and others which will start to be released during the summer. Along with being an entrepreneur and an author, I have also been taking some time to ghostwrite books for other people. It is an additional source of income and something that I really enjoy doing because I get to learn and write about some pretty interesting subjects.

One book I am doing focuses on the analogy of softball and how it relates to women and finances and it got me thinking about something I once heard the late Jim Rohn say. He said on one of his MLM training cd’s that a baseball player will make millions of dollars a year, striking out 7 times out of 10 and we can too!

You Can Fail A Lot And Make Money

So by failing a whole lot, you make a lot of money! When I first heard it something jumped in my spirit while my head said ‘no way that could work.’ It didn’t seem logical to my mind, but my soul knew better. It knew truth when it heard it.

So if you are wondering how it works, it is basically this. You talk to 10 people about your business in a week and only 3 say yes. In one year that is over 150 members added to your team.

Now lets say that you are still learning and you batting average is one out of ten, that is still 50+ people a year added to your team. Statistically in my company (which is probably a good industry standard) 1 in 20 people you recruit will become a good leader. So in one year you will have recruited 50+ people developed 3 leaders and they will have recruited a total of 15 people. So in one year you have 65 people on your team.

Year Two Is Even BetterTweet This

Now in year two things get better because your skills get better. So you personally recruit a 100 people and add on 5 more leaders to your team. The leaders that you recruited in the first year are recruiting regularly and they recruit 150 plus develop their own leaders. So by the end of year two you have potentially 320 team members. Now of course we all know that not everyone stays, so lets say 160 good team members. Where would that put you in your company? Would you be making lots of money? You would in my company and I am on my way there. My goal is to be past there by next summer.

Now Is The Time

I have learned how to easily recruit people, so now the big thing for me is to get the consistency that builds momentum that will build my future. Consistency is the key. It is the small daily and weekly actions that produce big results over a period of time. That is how the really successful people in your company do it. Everyday they are generating leads in many different ways, then converting some of those leads into recruits and then training them how to do the same. That’s how you win the game.

Now is the best time of year to be get your business going. Most people slack off in the spring and summer, so that means a lot less competition for you to find new team members. The great thing is while you are looking for new team members you will also find customers as well. Then by the time that the Fall/Christmas rush comes you will already be ahead of the game and you will reap fantastic results from it.

 So what are you waiting for? Get out there and fail, so that ultimately you will win.

So some of you might be thinking that this is going to be some new age if you dream it, it will happen posts and I can guarantee you that is not what this is. What I am going to teach is scientifically proven and can change your life.

I was reading a book on happiness that looked at it from a Scriptural and scientific view and it really changed how I saw some things, so I am going to take what I learned from that and apply it to our business and share it with you.

So here we go, the concept is this…

Our brains create chemical patterns based on how we think and over time it is almost like grooves are created to make a path of least resistance so that we think the same way over and over again. So if you are a positive person then it creates a positive path. If you are negative, then it creates a negative path. Then your brain does everything possible to make come true the path that you have chosen.

When I learned that it blew me away. I realized that I was creating my own failure by the path that I allowed my thoughts to create and then worse of all I would speak it out confirming to myself that what I thought was true. There is a scripture that says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Now I know that some of you don’t believe in God, but look at the principle taught here. What we hear creates faith in that thing. So if we are thinking doubt, fear, failure and then speak it out, it creates faith that that thing is going to happen and then your brain does everything possible to make it come true.

I want you to stop right now and take a serious look at your thought life and the words that you speak about your business. If you are thinking and speaking that you can’t, you are not able, you are too stupid, you aren’t good looking enough, I am too tall, short, fat, thin. I am a woman, or black, Hispanic or any other cultural group. I am not smart enough, I didn’t finish high school, no one ever believed in me, then you are going to fail guaranteed.

I can tell you from experience that this is true. When I think those things and allow them to take control in my life I fail, but the opposite is also true, when I think positive thoughts, when I speak positively some how I am able to do and achieve things I never thought possible. I also believe that when you think and speak positively that you open up the doors for God to be able to move and do great things because you are not hindering Him by your words, so He gets to add super to my natural.

So if you are thinking negatively what can you do about it? Well, the first and best thing is to recognize it and decide to change it. The second thing you do is to become aware of what you are thinking. Believe it or not we have a constant string of thoughts going through our head and many times we are not even aware of what is going on.

Here is an exercise for you. Get a pen and notepad and every time you have a negative thought put a tick in a notebook. Do that for about an hour and see how many times you are thinking negatively. You will be surprised by the results.

Third, once you become aware, now comes the hard part. Retraining your brain to create new paths and the longer that you have been thinking negatively the harder it can be, because the groves that you have to fight are deeper. Every time that you have a negative thought you need to recognize it and then replace it with a positive one. So if you think to yourself, “I can’t do this.” Then automatically correct yourself and say, “What am I saying of course I can do this.” Even better is to say it out loud.

Of course I do that when no one else is around or otherwise people would think that I am crazy. Over time your brain will start to create positive paths and it will become easier to think that way and then miracle happens, you start to act the way you think and the results follow that.

Imagine you increasing your results dramatically. You are selling and recruiting more, more money is coming into your household budget relieving some of the stress, you are happier and your family is happier too because you help set the pace for your family.

This is something that is powerful and if you truly use it to your advantage it will change your life forever. I know that it has changed mine.

A few weeks ago I received an awesome email from Kyle Wilson who worked with the late Jim Rohn for over 20 years. In this email he talked about getting the plane of your business off the ground. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to share what he taught me in this blog post.

Did you know that it takes 10 times more fuel and energy for the few minutes it takes to get a plane off of the ground then it does to keep it flying for hours?

Now apply that to your MLM business? What does that mean? It means that if you want your business to take off and soar then you are going to have to put a lot of time and effort in at the beginning.

If you haven’t done anything in a while you are at the beginning. Let’s look at the stages of getting that plane into the air.

1. You Are Sitting On The Tarmac

At this point you are ready to start but absolutely nothing is happening. This is the place where you need to decide that you are going to get going. This is where you really need to get your resolve settled that no matter what happens you are going to keep moving forward.

2. You Move To The Edge Of The Runway

This is your first step you take to moving forward. You get yourself out there and start to prospect on a regular basis but you haven’t gotten any results yet. This is one of the times that you will be tempted to quit because you have put out effort but haven’t seen a single result yet. Now is the time to just keep moving forward and don’t give up. It is just part of the price that you pay for success.

3. You Start Down The Runway Tweet This

You are actually starting to see some results. Your prospecting is working and you are getting new customers and recruits. It is excited because you actually feel like something is happening.

4. The Plane Leaves The Ground

This is where you reach that first sales level or you find your first leader that wants to build their business as well. You feel excited and ready to take on the world.

5. Mid Point of Rise

Things are growing, but maybe not as fast as you like. You may be getting tired and feeling the pressure from your rise. This is also the stage where people start to notice you and there can be attacks from those who are jealous of your rising success. This is one of the most dangerous times because you are getting results, but is it really worth all this continuous effort and the attacks? You will be tempted to quick, but if you can just keep doing what you have been doing you will succeed.

6. You Are Flying!!!

This is where you want to be. You are flying in the sky and you have the business that you want. You still continue to put in some effort, but you now have a team of people who are building the business with you and you are getting exponential results.

Now you need to understand that to get to number 6 it could take 2-5 years. Yes, I said 2-5 years. You have decide now if you are willing to do take that much continuous action to achieve the results that you want. I wish I could tell you that you could do this in a week, but if you want financial freedom you have to invest and invest deeply to reach that result.

I have been there a few times, but no more. I have made a commitment to myself that I am going to do what it takes to reach success. I am not going to give up. I can’t say I have reached number 6 yet, but I can most definitely say that I am at a 4.5 and rising.

The question is what are you going to do? Are you going to commit and do the actions, even when you are tired, even when you don’t see the results right away? You will be tempted to quit but you have determine a head of time that you won’t no matter what happens.

I know that you can do this. Don’t quit. If it has been a while since you have done anything in your business don’t you think that it is time to move forward?
