So in part 1 of this series we looked at the first 8 reasons why people give up including allowing themselves to be beaten down, feeling that the world owes them something, dwelling on mistakes, they give up when they fail, they expect results too fast, they focus on the wrong things and because of that they are overwhelmed an then last but not least they fear what they do not know.

Here is one thing I have learned on my journey to success, at times it will seem like everything is coming against you to stop you from achieving it. That is when the temptation to quit is the greatest and that is when you have to dig in your heels and stand and say to yourself, “I am not going to quit no matter what. I will do this,” and you find a way. There is always a way.

So let’s look at the next 8 reasons. As I was just writing this, a thought came to me and it was, “No wonder so many people quit, there are so many things trying to get you to quit. It seems like there are more reasons to quit then to get the success that you want.” Make the decision right now that you are not going to let these things take you out and rob you of the success that can be yours.

Reason #9 You Give Up Your Power

Basically, that is allowing other people to dictate your future. You are the only one who can determine your future and you should never let anyone else’s negative words or actions have power in your life to take from you.

You also can’t based you future on other people’s opinions of you. If you struggle with this then I want to think of it this way. Imagine a bubble around yourself and not just any bubble, this is a special bubble because it keeps out any harmful, negative words.

When someone says something that is trying kill, steal or rob your future it just bounces off and it can’t get inside of you.

The truth is, you have that bubble, you have the choice to let words inside of you and affect you. You make the choice to let them harm you and you make the choice to believe them.

You can also choose to not let them in and harm you. Here is how you do it. When the words are said the first thing you say to yourself is, “That’s not true, I am not……, and I don’t care what they say, I am going to accomplish this,” and then you choose to forgive them.

The wonderful thing about forgiveness is that it frees you from the effects of the other person’s actions so that you can continue to move forward unhindered by them.

Forgiveness is not about the other person, forgiveness is about you being from their grasp, and there is nothing like it.

Reason #10 You Are Stuck In The Past

The best thing I can say about that is to let it all go. If you spend all your time focusing on the past you will never move forward. It is done and there is nothing you can do to change it. What you can change is your present and your future, so focus on that instead.

You are not your past, no matter what happened, so leave it there and become the person you want to be in the future starting today.

Reason #11 You Resist Change

On your journey to success there will be things about yourself that stay the same and they are good things, but there are things that you are going to have to change. There are skills you are going to have to learn, there are thinking patterns you are going to have to give up, there may be people that you have to stop hanging around with because they are dragging you down and you will probably have to take more action then you have ever done in your whole entire life. One definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. So if you are not getting the results that you want then you are going to have to change to get to where you want to be.

Reason # 12 Your Desire For Success Is Less Than Your Fear Of Failure.

Here is one thing you might as well accept and accept it quickly. You are going to fail at times on your road to success. Success is not this straight upward climbing road that never has any twist or turns in it. In fact the road to success is usually here, there and everywhere and you usually feel like your are moving backwards when you are actually moving forwards. I have learned as much from my failures as I have from my successes.

Reason #13 Never Dream About What Is Possible

To reach success you have to have faith that you are going to get there even when you can’t see it with your human eyes and day dreaming about your future is a great way to build your faith and remind yourself what you are working towards.

Reason # 14 You Think That You Are The Only One Struggling

It is hard to achieve success when you think that you are the only one who is having a hard time. You look at all those successful people and how easy they have it now and you mistakenly believe that because you are not there that maybe you are not worthy or that is just isn’t for you.

The truth is you are seeing the end result of all the struggles that they went through and overcame. They had to struggle just like you might be doing right now. They only difference between you and them is that they are further down the road then you. That’s all.

Reason #15 Feel That They Have Something To Lose

There is a really strange fear out there called fear of success and that is where you actually afraid that success will change things so much that you won’t be able to accept it and that people won’t like you anymore.

Yes, success does change some things, but only the things you let it change and you don’t have to change your moral compass just because you have money. Money just allows the really good thing in you to be expressed even more.

Reason #16 You Spend Most Of You Time In A Pity Party

Now before you get all upset, we all go through times when we feel sorry for ourselves, the big thing is how long and what you do with it. If you are wallowing in self pity and always blaming everyone else for your lack of success then you will never succeed. On the other hand if you recognize it quickly, shake it off and start moving towards your goal again, then you w ill succeed.

You are responsible for your own success and you need to take charge of your emotions and tell them how to feel, not the other way around.

So I hope that that this series has helped you recognize some things in yourself so that when they happen you can look at them and say, “I know you, you are trying to steal my future and I am not going to let you. Go Away!”

Everyone is tempted at time to quit, but the truly successful have their eyes set in the goal and are not going to let anything stop them, including themselves.
